Colleges of education at UT institutions provide resources for K-12 teachers impacted by COVID-19
The colleges of education at the eight UT academic institutions have curated a list of high-quality resources to support K-12 student and professional teachers who have made the rapid transition from in-person to remote teaching because of the COVID-19 pandemic.
K-12 teachers can visit the ElevateTXed website to find learning resources for students and activities that support remote teaching, in addition to teacher development opportunities and Zoom training for educating via videoconference.
“These resources are aimed at both pre-service and in-service teachers who are navigating this new school-at-home reality,” said Nichole Prescott, PhD, assistant vice chancellor for academic affairs. “While a number of these resources support current K-12 teachers transitioning to remote teaching, we also provide resources and information for those who are new to education—our student teachers.”
ElevateTXed, an initiative of the eight UT colleges of education, works to elevate the field of education in the state of Texas, support new-to-profession teachers, highlight current research in the field of education and serve as a one-stop shop for anyone considering becoming a Texas teacher.
The initiative was launched in part because Texas is experiencing a critical teacher shortage, particularly in the areas of bilingual education, math, science, career and technical, and special education.
“If job-seeking Texans are looking for a stable, rewarding and heroic career, we encourage them to consider the education field,” Prescott said.
