GENERAL TRAFFIC AND PARKING REGULATIONS

A. SPEED LIMIT:
The speed limit in parking areas and in the alley between Claudia Taylor Johnson Hall and Ashbel Smith Hall, is five (5) mph unless otherwise posted.

B. POSTED SIGNS & BARRICADES:
Posted signs and barricades, whether permanent or temporary, must be obeyed at all times.

C. PARKING IMPROPERLY:
Parking wholly within the marked boundaries of the parking space is required at all times.
Vehicles shall not park in a manner that obstructs walkways, driveways, ramps, loading docks, marked cross-walks or inflicts damage to shrubbery, trees, grass, grounds or structures. Additionally, no vehicle may park on any area that has not been marked or designated for parking. Other improperly parked vehicles do not constitute an excuse for improper parking.

D. ENFORCEMENT AND IMPOUNDMENTS:
Failure to abide by these regulations may be the basis for disciplinary action against employee.  Upon notice, a violator may be subject to impoundment of their vehicle pending payment of overdue charges.  Vehicles may also be impounded for specific impound violations.

E. APPEAL OF CITATION: 
U.T. System Administration parking and traffic citations may be appealed, within ten (10) working days from date of citation.  Court Appearance citations are handled by the appropriate state or municipal court.

F. VISITORS:
OFFICIAL VISITORS are those who conduct business with or who render a service to U.T. System Administration and who are not otherwise eligible for annual parking permits.

Official visitors must obtain temporary parking permits from the guards at the kiosk. These permits entitle the holder to park only in a space designated by the U.T. System Administration guard on duty. Permits must be conspicuously displayed on each vehicle. (Section VI).

G. INOPERABLE VEHICLES:
If a vehicle becomes inoperable and is creating an obstruction or hazard, a call shall be placed to ODOP at 499-4680. Inoperable vehicles left for more than 24 hours will be considered abandoned and are subject to removal at the owner’s expense.

H. STORAGE
Vehicles may be parked in the appropriate garage with a properly displayed permit for up to a week unless prior arrangements are made with ODOP.

I. OWNERSHIP:
Parking permits remain the property of U.T. System Administration and are not transferable.

J. CONDUCT: 
All permit holders shall comply with the following:

  1. The driver of any vehicle involved in a collision on U.T. System property shall remain at the scene of such accident or collision, and by the quickest means of communication report such accident or collision to the Guard on duty.
  2. No person shall fail or refuse to comply with any lawful order or direction from any U.T. System commissioned officer.
  3. Any person who willfully or through negligence causes damage to U.T. System Administration property shall be liable for damage done to said property.
  4. All vehicles operated or parked on System Administration property shall properly display a current parking permit.
  5. The driver of a vehicle shall yield right-of-way to pedestrians at all times.
  6. "Reserved" spaces are assigned and are restricted to authorized employees.  Reserved Spaces are reserved 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, including holidays.  Employees assigned a reserved space are encouraged to allow staff members to park in their space when they will not be using them, with advance notification to ODOP.
  7. Employees are requested to observe, to the extent possible, the spaces marked "full size" or "compact" cars.
