Susan Doty is the founding director of the Center for Economic Education and Financial Literacy at The University of Texas at Tyler, where she serves on the economic faculty as a senior lecturer and undergraduate economics advisor. Doty serves on the executive committee for the National Association of Economic Educators and is currently its president-elect. She also serves as a board member for both the Council for Economic Education in New York and Texas. She completed her undergraduate work in biology at Wheaton College in Norton, Massachusetts, and has an MBA from Bryant University in Smithfield, Rhode Island. Doty spent a first career in the biotechnology industry, where she was a champion of innovation and entrepreneurship. She has been teaching economics and personal finance for over 25 years and is in her eighth year at UT Tyler. Doty has taught previously at the Sam Walton School of Business at the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville, the Maxwell School of Public Policy at Syracuse University, and the University of Southern Mississippi. She was a recipient of the 2015 UT System Regents' Outstanding Teaching Award and the 2016 UT Tyler Student Life and Leadership Partnership Award. She is a founding fellow and president-elect of the Academy of Distinguished Teachers at UT Tyler. In addition, Doty serves on the finances affinity group of the UT System Chancellor's Quantum Leap in Student Success.
