We must never forget that the classroom is the beginning of their journey, not the end.
My role in the classroom is to act as Virgil to my students' Dante: to guide, offer insight, challenge, encourage critical thinking, model empathy, and provide opportunities for my students to stretch and grow, always knowing that I help, in some small way, to prepare them for the rest of their journey.
