My approach to teaching is guided by a simple idea: you play like you practice.

After my students graduate, they will face an uncertain world full of difficult choices. They will have to make these choices on the basis of messy, incomplete data, and will have to convince others that their decisions are sensible in light of the evidence. If I don't ask them to practice this under my nose, in the classroom, how can I expect them to play well at it in real life?
