Amy A. Weimer, PhD., Associate Professor in the Department of Psychological Science at the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley, is a developmental psychologist who specializes in investigating social, family, and cultural factors that affect cognitive and academic development in diverse learners. She also serves as the Associate Dean of Student Academic Development, in Student Academic Success, in which she strives to ensure that UTRGV offers high impact learning opportunities to all students. In this role, she oversees the Office of Engaged Scholarship & Learning, a resource for undergraduate students across the university who are interested in gaining experiential learning opportunities, including service learning, undergraduate research, and other types of community-based projects. Dr. Weimer also is the Associate Director of the Center for Bilingual Studies, in which she leads research teams and community advocacy groups focused on understanding the many variables and processes that promote successful outcomes in bilingual children and families of the UTRGV community.
