Ramiro Bravo is an Associate Professor of Mechanical Engineering at The University of Texas Permian Basin. He obtained his PhD and MSc degrees from the University of Iowa, and his BSc degree from Universidad de San Andres in Bolivia. He is one of two faculty who started and organized the engineering program at UT Permian Basin. He developed and taught many of the courses in the new mechanical engineering program. He previously taught at Trine University before joining UT Permian Basin. At UT Permian Basin, he received the President Service Award (2017), the Outstanding Research Award from the School of Business and Engineering (2012-13), the Excellence in Teaching Award from the UTPB chapter of The National Society of Leadership and Success (2012). At Trine University, he received four times The Charles and Sue Ragan Gelet Excellence in Teaching Award in Engineering. His research interests are in the areas of engineering education, mathematical optimization in engineering design, HVAC systems design optimization, and machine and deep learning.
