Dr. Barbara Saatkamp Taylor, MD, MS

Dr. Barbara Taylor is an Associate Professor of Infectious Diseases and the Assistant Dean for the MD/MPH Program at UT Health San Antonio. She is an alumna of Princeton University, Harvard Medical School, and the Mailman School of Public Health, and completed her residency and fellowship training at Columbia University Medical Center. Dr. Taylor conducts research to improve health outcomes for those living with or at risk for HIV, with a specific focus on Latinx populations. She is an infectious disease specialist with a focus on care of people living with HIV and other viral illnesses an HIV care provider at the University Health FFACTS clinic.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, she served as the Chair of the City of San Antonio/Bexar County Health Transition Team, convened by Mayor Nirenberg and Judge Wolff to provide public health guidance on reopening. She is the Co-Chair of the San Antonio Metropolitan Health District’s COVID-19 Community Response and Equity Coalition, which works to support San Antonio’s pandemic response efforts. She is the Principal Investigator of the COVID-19 Prevention Network’s San Antonio site, which leads COVID-19 vaccine trials and Director of the COVID-19 Infectious Diseases Virtual Outpatient Clinic. Her commitment to medical education and support for the MD/MPH Program has earned her numerous teaching and service awards.
