Dr. Iya Price is an Assistant Professor of Instruction at the University of Texas at Arlington’s Department of Modern Languages. She teaches Russian language, culture, and linguistics, and trains faculty and GTAs on language pedagogy. She is chair of the Proficiency Initiative Committee in Modern Languages, where she leads faculty training, lower-level language curricula revamping, and student proficiency testing. Dr. Price has more than 20 years of teaching experience, has received numerous awards for her teaching, and participated in multiple professional development opportunities including the Association of College and University Educators (ACUE) Certification Program. Aside from numerous internal grants, she has received three federal NSA STARTALK grants, and a federal grant from the US Embassy in Moscow. These grants have allowed for Russian and other critical languages student and teacher programs. Dr. Price co-sponsors the Russian Culture Society, a UTA student organization, as well as Russian study broad, and creates internship opportunities for her current and former students. Dr. Price has presented and led numerous workshops at conferences and professional meetings. She received her B.A. and M.A. in Education from Togliatti State University in Russia, her M.Ed. in Educational Administration and Supervision from Texas Christian University, and her TESOL Graduate Certificate and Ph.D. inLinguistics from the University of Texas at Arlington.
