Dr. Raheem received her Ph.D. in Construction Management from the University of Florida (UF) in 2014. She holds multiple master’s degrees in Building Construction, Environmental Engineering, and Civil Engineering from UF. She is a tenured Associate Professor and Director of the Construction Safety Program at the University of Texas, El Paso. Dr. Raheem is an invited member of the President’s Advisory Committee on Sustainability and Academic Innovation Committee at UTEP. Dr. Raheem has a research portfolio of more than $3.5 million with projects funded by various U.S. federal agencies and non-profit organizations such as the Department of Labor, Department of State, National Science Foundation, Federal Highway Administration, Department of Energy through National Renewable Energy Laboratory, 100,000 Strong in the Americas and VentureWell. Her research interests include smart construction, construction safety and health, construction technologies, and asset management. Dr. Raheem has received several prestigious national, regional, and university awards, including the 2022 Great Minds in STEM-HENAAC Education Award, 2022 UTEP Academy of Distinguished Teachers’ Outstanding Teaching Award, 2021 American Society for Engineering Education’s Outstanding Young Faculty Award, 2020 UTEP College of Engineering Dean’s Award for Teaching Excellence, 2020 Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers’ STAR Educator of the Year Award, 2018 Elsevier Outstanding Reviewer, 2016 ASCE Excellence in Civil Engineering Education Fellowship, 2016 Design-Build Institute of America’s Instructor Fellowship and multiple UTEP Awards for Outstanding Efforts in Securing Extramural Funding. Dr. Raheem is an Envision™ Sustainability Professional, a certified associate member of the Design-Build Institute of America, and OSHA certified Master Trainer.
