LaDonna Aiken, M.A.

LaDonna Aiken is a broadcast specialist in the Department of Communication at The University of Texas at Arlington. Ms. Aiken began her broadcast career in the Marine Corps, as the distinguished honor graduate of the broadcaster course at the Defense Information School (DINFOS), going on to serve as a military broadcast journalist for American Forces Radio and Television Service (now AFN) in Okinawa, Japan. After her military service, she focused on corporate and event video production, winning numerous awards, and speaking on production topics to groups across the country. She graduated summa cum laude with her Bachelor of Arts in Broadcast Communication, and her Master of Arts in Communication from UTA, where she teaches broadcast and video production courses, and serves as the student media club advisor. She was awarded top paper in the Broadcast Education Association (BEA) History Division paper competition (2016) for The Far East Network Okinawa: Impact and Influence of Broadcast Programming for the Military, 1945 - 1995, and has presented on service learning and broadcast topics for BEA since 2016. Her goal is to use experiential and service learning to connect students with their community, or with opportunities across the world.
