Jason Boyle, Ph.D.
Associate Professor
Department of Kinesiology
College of Health Sciences
UT El Paso
Dr. Jason Boyle is an associate professor and Chair of the Department of Kinesiology at The University of Texas at El Paso. His research interests are seen in topics examining sensory systems and their role in perception-to-action in the upper extremities. He has published works in The Journal of Motor Behavior, Acta Psychologica, Experimental Brain Research and The Journal of Motor Learning and Development. Before being elected as Chair, Dr. Boyle served as a dual-appointed faculty member in the College of Health Sciences for many years. His teaching experience ranges from freshman level Introduction to Kinesiology to doctoral level classes in “motor neuroscience.” For the past five years, he has worked collaboratively with UTEP faculty and students in Kinesiology and the physical therapy program to investigate how modified sensory inputs can be utilized to augment motor behavior in children diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder.
A strong advocate for student success, Dr. Boyle has worked closely with curriculum experts at UTEP as well as the UT System to investigate how historical designs of program pathways have the potential to effect students in bottlenecks, restrict the educational experience, and negatively impact the student’s perspective of belonging. His mission in the classroom is two-part. Beyond content mastery, Dr. Boyle largely focuses on motivating his students to establish and pursue acute and long-term professional and personal goals. He has been recognized for his accomplishments in mentoring (CHS Outstanding Mentor Award in 2019) as well as teaching (CHS Teaching Excellence Award in 2023).
