Each month, Get to Know… will feature two members of UT System Administration’s talented and diverse staff as they offer insights into their lives in and out of the office. Each new edition will be published here. This week,
Angela Ossar
Records Management Officer
Office of Systemwide Compliance
What are your primary job responsibilities?
I manage UT System Administration's records management program. I lead a crack team of departmental Records Management Coordinators, hold quarterly training and assist anyone at UT System in interpreting and complying with our many records retention requirements. As the Systemwide Records Management Officer (RMO), I also meet with RMOs from all UT institutions a few times a year and assist them however I can.
What do you most enjoy about your job?
I'm surrounded by the best and brightest people, and I love problem-solving with them. Any time we can engineer a solution that meets our requirements but isn't painful to follow, that's a good day.
What is a fact about you that may surprise your colleagues?
I hate filing! I have a years-old stack of papers on top of my filing cabinet. Even my wedding scrapbook isn't done. We were married in 2008.
What do you do to disconnect or de-stress?
Right now, I'm really into learning Italian and keeping up my Duolingo streak. I also love meeting up with friends for walks around the Hike and Bike Trail, going on “bike expeditions” with my almost-12-year-old son, listening to podcasts, cross-stitching and embroidery, and tackling home organization projects.
Who is currently playing on your Spotify playlist?
The Rollerskating Mix! It's a playlist my best friend created with her sister for their roller-skating birthday party. The songs are just perfect for skating. It was so good that I decided to fly to Chicago so I could go to the party.
