Each month, Get to Know… will feature two members of UT System Administration’s talented and diverse staff as they offer insights into their lives in and out of the office. Each new edition will be published here. This week,

Office of Employee Benefits
What are your primary job responsibilities?
I create informational benefits materials for employees and retirees and collaborate on internal resources for our institutional HR/Benefits Office staff. If you’ve ever watched UT System’s annual enrollment or benefits videos, that’s my voice you’re hearing!
What do you most enjoy about your job?
I am incredibly lucky to work with a team of people that inspire me, encourage me and make me laugh. I love that I have space to learn new skills, combine them with what’s already in my bag of tricks and see projects come to life.
What is a book or movie that has inspired you – and why?
My friend bought me the book That Cheese Plate Will Change Your Life for my birthday. I find immense joy in creating delicious and pretty dishes for people, and this book inspired me to work on my cheese-plate game.
What do you do to disconnect or de-stress?
Walking outside with my dog, Kari Bear, is my favorite way to disconnect and de-stress. I also tend to my outdoor hydroponic garden stand. Watching the herbs, veggies and edible flowers grow puts a smile on my face. And when the water cycles through the stand, I’ve got a relaxing water feature!
Who is currently playing on your Spotify playlist?
Maggie Rogers. I originally discovered her through the NPR Tiny Desk Concert series. I love having her music on in the background while I work.
