Block 82: Uncommon Knowledge and Unconventional Wisdom for System Employees, A Speaker Series is a collaborative initiative between the Office of Innovation and Strategic Investment and the Office of Academic Affairs. For our first event on September 21, 2017 from 12:00 p.m. – 1:00 p.m., Winslow Sargeant will join us. Winslow is a successful entrepreneur, investor, and longstanding advocate for advancing technology from universities. In 2010, he was appointed by President Obama as Chief Counsel for Advocacy for the U.S. Small Business Administration. He currently serves as the Senior Vice President for Development & Advocacy with the International Council for Small Business.
Our second event will be on October 11, 2017 from 12:00 p.m. – 1:00 p.m. with Daron Roberts. After graduating from law school, Daron made an immediate career shift and began a career coaching in the NFL and NCAA. Daron was named a Presidential Leadership Scholar in 2015 by the Presidential Leadership Foundation, a joint venture between Presidents Bill Clinton and George W. Bush. Daron is currently the founding director of the Center for Sports Leadership and Innovation at UT Austin and has a proven track record in improving management systems and developing leadership strategy.
The purpose of this ongoing speaker series is to come together in a spirit of continual learning. Guest speakers will guide engaging conversations including but not limited to higher education, healthcare, innovation, leadership, and entrepreneurship. Our hope is that participants will be empowered with ideas and frameworks that enable their personal, and UT System’s, future achievements.
We encourage you to take advantage of these unique opportunities to learn from Winslow, Daron, and future speakers. This series will also serve as a great opportunity to utilize our new building and interact with each other. We will be meeting in the 2nd floor multipurpose room in our new building and participants are welcome to bring their own lunch. To RSVP for the first event on September 21 or to make sure you know about future events, please fill out this form. If you have any questions, please email innovation@utsystem.edu.
