Over the past 12 hours, UT System users may have seen an increase in the number of phishing emails in their inbox. It is important to be remain cautious and attentive to email messages that come through your inbox. Our information security analysts have been working to block suspicious URLs and email accounts; however, if you access UT System email from your cell phone or your personal computer, you may not be protected.
Take the following steps to avoid being a victim of phishing attacks:
- Be suspicious of unexpected email with attachments or links, even from friends, family, and colleagues.
- If you receive an email with an unusual or unexpected request from a colleague, consider emailing or calling your colleague to confirm that the email is legitimate.
- If you receive a suspicious email, forward it to abuse@utsystem.edu or click on the Phishing Alert button on your Outlook toolbar.
