RESEARCH SCHOLAR

UT System Population Health is seeking candidates for a part-time position supporting a population health research project. The project is documenting initiatives in Texas that are addressing social determinants of health through primary care and social service integration. The project is being conducted on behalf of the Texas Health Improvement Network, a multi-institutional, multi-disciplinary council of leaders from across the state working to catalyze population health improvement and health equity in Texas. 

Major responsibilities:

(a)     Assist with coordinating and conducting key informant interviews with clinical and social service organization staff

(b)    Assist with qualitative data analysis

(c)     Provide writing, editing and proof-reading support for reports and manuscripts for peer review

(d)    Provide meeting support, such as preparing agendas, scheduling, facilitating, and taking notes

(e)    Other duties as assigned

Employment period: Fall semester (September – December) 2019. Potential for extension through May 2020.

Required education: Currently enrolled in a master’s or doctorate program in public health or public policy. Two semesters of master-level coursework in public health and/or public policy.

Required skills/experience/knowledge: At least one-year full-time work experience related to healthcare, health policy or public health. Excellent writing and organizational skills. With direction and oversight, ability to work independently and with a high degree of professionalism.

Desired skills/experience/knowledge: Qualitative research skills/experience, including interviewing and data analysis using ATLAS.ti or other qualitative software.

Location:  UT System Administration Building, 210 West 7th Street, Austin TX. Onsite parking and gym access provided.
