Course Materials Disclosure

Over the last two sessions, the Texas Legislature has passed bills (SB 810 and HB 1027) requiring institutions to provide clarity on the costs of course materials in course schedules and to make information on inclusive access fees more transparent and available to students. The UT System believes these requirements are in the best interest of students and is committed to supporting institutions throughout this process.

The UT System Affordable Learning Accelerator Task Force issued 11 recommendations in the final report it submitted to Chancellor Milliken in September 2020, including a recommendation on course materials disclosure.

The UT System and institutions should adopt best practices for complying with state and federal legislation regarding OER and course material disclosure.
