Assistant General Counsel
Laura Barbour is an Assistant General Counsel in the General Law section of The University of Texas System Office of General Counsel. Ms. Barbour provides legal counsel on a broad range of higher education issues, including employment, civil rights, and risk management matters. Ms. Barbour joined the UT System after nearly a decade of litigation and trial work at the Office of the Attorney General of Texas and at Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom LLP. She has advised and represented individuals and public and private entities before state and federal courts throughout Texas and before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit. Ms. Barbour received her law degree from The University of Texas School of Law in 2009 and her undergraduate degree from The University of Texas at Austin in 2000.
